#CancerIsPersonal Story

Rena has been like a second mother to me. I grew up across the street from her and her family...her three sons, daughter and husband were considered like a second family to us. We had pizza there every Friday (which Rena would make homemade!) and her husband would sit there and braid my hair and tell me how much I reminded him of his daughter. He passed away shortly after I entered middle school...I would say that Rena certainly lost sight her personal health after his passing. All the while I've known her she has had this large mole on her shin. She finally got it checked out about a year ago and came to find out that it was Melanoma (stage 4).
